Tim holds a PhD in American Studies from the University of Maryland. His current book project examines grassroots organizing for political autonomy and equitable development in DC in the Black Power era and beyond. His research has been supported by the DC History Center and the Mellon Foundation. Prior to joining IPS in 2024 he was a postdoctoral fellow at Georgetown University and worked for Good Jobs First, an economic development policy resource center. He has been a resident of the District for nearly two decades and is a member of O.N.E. DC, a Black working class-led organization committed to securing the rights to housing and income.
