We are excited to share our UCDC Basic Needs Program. We understand that a UCDC term brings additional challenges for some of our students, and we are excited to work in partnership with you to remove obstacles that might get in the way of your UCDC experience. Students are strongly encouraged to begin using Basic Needs services on their campuses, prior to their arrival at UCDC, to help them financially prepare for their time in DC.
Mental Health
UCDC provides free access to talk therapy through Live Health Online, and we have programming and support throughout the term to help support your mental wellness.
Food Security
UCDC provides weekly access to a food pantry designed to help reduce students’ grocery costs.
Linen Kits
The UCDC Linen Kit Program provides bedding to students experiencing financial hardship. This includes students traveling without the means to ship belongings, students facing unexpected costs, or students for whom purchasing bedding for a single term is not feasible.
Kits are free and self-attested. No documentation or formal qualification is required. Students who can bring or purchase their own bedding should do so. The program has limited capacity and kits must remain available for students who need them. Contact basicneeds@ucdc.edu with questions.
Our linen sets include sheets (fitted, flat, and pillowcase), a blanket, Please note that pillows are not included in the Basic Needs Program and must be purchased by students.
Please note that if for some reason we are unable to accommodate your request, you will be notified no later than 1 week prior to your arrival.
