INTERNSHIPS

Internships are the cornerstone of students’ UCDC experience. UC students have interned with members of Congress, the White House, federal agencies, nonprofits, advocacy groups, scientific organizations, public relations firms, the news media, and more. Experiences range from responding to constituent inquiries, researching legislation, assisting in laboratories, to writing news stories.  Participants gain valuable experience and firsthand exposure to the capital’s policy and political process and often leave with stories and acquaintances that last a lifetime.

Overview of Internship Process

Students are not assigned internships. Instead, they work with D.C.-based Internship Advisors to find and apply for positions that match their interests and skills. UCDC Internship Advisors support accepted students in the months prior to their arrival in D.C. and throughout their internship experience.

Washington offers thousands of internship opportunities across a wide range of industries and sectors, including federal and local government, business, domestic and international nonprofits, education, law, technology, and more.
