UC Artist Exhibits Drawings at UCDC

Sidney Lawrence, who studied art history at the University of California and interned in Washington, D.C. more than 40 years ago, is exhibiting his “Globo Tour,’’ a collection of travel drawings, in the UC Washington Center lobby.

Lawrence earned his BA from Berkeley and MA from Davis, and was a Washington intern during the summer of 1974 – the summer President Nixon resigned. He parlayed his internship into a long-standing job as the public information officer at the Smithsonian’s Hirshhorn Museum.

His finely detailed drawings offer whimsical perspectives from around the globe. The picture above is entitled “Paris from the Alps.’’ The exhibit is open to the public through July 16.
