Description:
Five revolutions (1799/1800, 1882, 1919, 1952 &2011) may provide landmarks for modern Egyptian history, but there are also wars, institutions (legal, educational, and otherwise; public and private) and more. This course aims at presenting a basic outline of Egyptian history from Napoleon’s landing in Alexandria in 1798 until the 18-Day Revolution of 2011 with an emphasis on the conflict of educations and the interaction of public reasoning and political life.
