Monday Forum: Maria Teresa Kumar

Maria Teresa Kumar is president and CEO of Voto Latino, an organization she co-founded with actress Rosario Dawson, committed to engaging Latino millennials in the political process. She is also a regular contributor on MSNBC where she was nominated for an Emmy Award. In 2013 Elle named her one of the 10 most powerful women in Washington, DC, and Hispanic Executive Magazine called her one of the 20 most influential Latinos in America.  
 
Kumar started her legislative career as an aide to Sacramento Rep. Vic Fazio. She received a BA in International Relations from UC Davis – where she participated in UCDC – and MA from Harvard’s Kennedy School.
