Description: 

This course will focus on the knowledge, skills and abilities required to be an effective strategic communicator in the private sector, government offices or agencies, advocacy and nonprofit organizations, and in political campaigns. We'll examine different aspects of being a successful communicator including theory and practical discussions around strategic and targeted communications, communications in crisis situations, as well as communications targeted for internal, external/stakeholder, advocacy/grassroots, traditional media, social media, and online audiences. This course will logically have a D.C. focus, but will teach students skills that will be applicable to many post-graduate employment situations.
