The following opportunities are open to UC Faculty. They provide the opportunity for Faculty to teach, present their research, or even host events at the UC Washington Center, in Washington, D.C.
The UC Washington Center (UCDC) invites UC Faculty to apply for the UCDC Presidential Faculty Fellows Program which will bring UC faculty to Washington, DC after equipping them with the skills to engage with legislators on Capitol Hill.
- One-on-one coaching to prepare for meetings with federal policymakers
- Airfare and housing for a trip to DC, May 17–22, 2026
- Access to workshops and trainings on policy brief writing and communicating on Capitol Hill
- An opportunity to present their research at a UCDC event
- A $2,000 research stipend
- Environmental and climate policy
- Health equity and public health

- Education, housing, labor, technology, justice, and governance
The University of California Washington Program (UCDC) invites applications for visiting UC faculty teaching positions for a quarter or semester term during the academic year 2026-27.
UCDC is a system-wide academic program of the University of California in Washington, DC, that provides opportunities for undergraduates to study and participate in internships. Additionally, students take courses designed to supplement their internship experiences and to take advantage of opportunities in our nation’s capital. We invite applications from UC faculty in all fields to propose a course that engages with students’ DC experience. The area of specialization is open and includes, but is not limited to, Ethnic Studies, Political Science, International Relations, Economics, Sociology, History, Anthropology, Public Policy, Public Health, Area Studies, Media, Law, Science Policy, and Performing/ Fine Arts.

THREE WAYS UC FACULTY CAN HOST EVENTS AT UCDC
UC faculty have three options for hosting events at the University of California Washington Center. The level of UCDC support depends on how the event is organized and how closely it aligns with UCDC's annual programming.
UC faculty, departments, centers, and other UC units may reserve UCDC event space for their own events at any time of year. The sponsoring unit pays the applicable facility fees and is responsible for planning and managing the event, including speakers, registration, catering, invitations, and other logistics. UCDC provides the space, room setup, and standard audiovisual assistance.
For this option, you organize the event; UCDC provides the venue and basic event support.

APPLICATION FOR EVENT SPONSORSHIP
Each year, UCDC invites proposals for a limited number of faculty-organized events that advance UCDC's mission and benefit from being held in Washington, DC. Selected events receive a defined package of UCDC support, which may include complimentary event space, up to $2,000 in financial support, limited guest housing, standard audiovisual support, and promotion through UCDC communications channels.
The faculty convener remains responsible for developing and producing the event, including the agenda, speakers, registration, catering, outreach, travel arrangements, and event-day coordination. UCDC provides support but does not serve as the event producer. Sponsorship is competitive and subject to available funding, space, housing, and staff capacity.
For this option, you organize the event; UCDC provides a limited financial and in-kind subsidy.
Example: Landing in Place book launch
UC faculty may also propose an event as a potential UCDC program to either the Executive Director or the Director of Academic and Student Services. These events are developed jointly with UCDC and must align closely with UCDC's programming priorities for the year. UCDC and the faculty partner work together to shape the program, identify participants and audiences, and determine how the event can contribute to UCDC's broader academic, student, and public programming.
Unlike sponsored events, these events are part of UCDC's own programming and UCDC takes an active role in planning, producing, and managing the event. The faculty partner typically provides subject-matter expertise and may secure co-sponsorship or other institutional support.
For this option, we develop and produce the event together as part of UCDC's programming.
