Statement from Dr. Shapiro on UCSB shooting

Message from Dr. Helen Shapiro

Dear UCDC Community,

I know we have all followed the tragic events at UCSB with horror and sadness.  Our hearts go out to the families and friends of the victims.  Everyone at the Center extends condolences to those UCSB students and faculty among us.  We appreciate that it is especially difficult to cope with this incomprehensible tragedy so far from your support systems, and to be unable to participate in events organized for the larger UCSB community.

We are trying to schedule a memorial service that can bring us together as a community later this week.  In the meantime, please keep in mind that we have counselors available through:

Parkhurst Associates Mental Health Services

Additionally, tomorrow evening at 7pm in room 301, we will be holding a group counseling session for those of you who would like to come together for a discussion.

For those UCSB students who do not feel ready to return tomorrow to your internships or classes, please contact Veronica so she can coordinate communication with your internship coordinator and professor.
