UCDC internships are academic and professional learning experiences. Internship providers are partners in
students’ education and play an essential role in helping students explore careers, develop professional
skills, and apply academic learning in a workplace setting.
Organizations hosting UCDC students agree to provide a safe, professional, and substantive internship
experience that benefits both the student and the organization.
UCDC internship providers agree to:
- Provide meaningful work connected to the organization’s mission and the student’s professional development.
- Designate a qualified supervisor who has the time and capacity to guide the student.
- Provide orientation, training, necessary resources, and a safe and inclusive professional environment.
- Establish clear responsibilities, learning goals, performance expectations, and communication practices.
- Meet with the student regularly and provide timely, constructive feedback.
- Honor the agreed-upon schedule and support the student’s required UCDC academic commitments.
- Communicate promptly with UCDC about significant changes, concerns, or possible interruptions to the internship by emailing employers@ucdc.edu.
- Complete required UCDC documentation, including both a midterm and final evaluation of the student’s performance.
We know hosting an intern can take some time and work, so we are in the process of creating a few resources to help you.
