Director of Student Services & Assistant Director of Student Services

The Director of Student Services and Assistant Director of Student Services are full-time, live-in professional staff members with extensive experience working with students in residential settings. They are responsible for the coordination of the residential community as a unit and ensuring adherence to the Residential Life Mission and Goals.

Debbie Deas, Assistant Director of Student Services

Debbie Deas (she/her/hers) - Debbie is a southern native from the Palmetto State. She earned her BA in Government and Sociology from Wofford College in Spartanburg, SC before moving to Bloomington, IN to get her MS in Education at Indiana University. Debbie has worked in the UC system (UC Santa Barbara and UC San Diego) for almost nine years and had the privilege of participating in an unforgettable trip around the world with Semester at Sea.

Even though Howie – her 8-pound Chihuahua – is already giving her side-eye about winter, Debbie is excited to be back home on the east coast!

Coordinators are full-time, live-in professional staff members who serve as your primary point of contact for any issues or concerns that you may have while staying in the Center. One of their primary roles is to create and maintain a community which promotes academic, personal, and social growth.

Young Chan Lim (he/him/his) - Young Chan graduated from UCLA with a degree in Political Science with concentration in Methods and Models and a minor in Education Studies. He was also a Resident Assistant in Hedrick Summit for 2 years in UCLA Residential Life. Young Chan enjoys playing the piano in the lobby late at night, reading Marvel comics, and running only when he's chased.
