Visiting Instructor Positions

The University of California Washington Program (UCDC) is recruiting for temporary, part-time visiting
instructors to teach in its undergraduate academic program. UCDC is a system-wide academic program of the
University of California in Washington, DC that provides opportunities for undergraduates to study and
participate in public service, media, science policy, and arts internships in DC for a quarter or semester.
Additionally, students carry a course load of academic work including participation in a required research
seminar and other elective courses. Courses are designed to supplement student internship experiences and/or
to take advantage of the many unique opportunities available in our Nation’s capital.

Areas of specialization include Political Science, International Relations, Economics, Sociology, History,
Anthropology, Public Policy, Area Studies, Media, Law, Science Policy and Performing/Fine Arts. Applicants
must demonstrate significant professional and/or practitioner experience in the areas of specialization listed
above. Preference will be given to applicants who hold a Ph.D. and have demonstrated effectiveness in the
classroom, but these are not requirements. These positions are usually for elective courses taught in the
evenings on Tuesdays or Thursdays.

This is an open and ongoing recruitment. Positions will be filled as necessary. UCDC will keep active applications
for all appropriate vacancies for one year. Applicants must resubmit materials each academic year to retain
eligibility.

These positions are non-tenure track positions and do not imply any academic standing with any other
University of California campus or department. Terms and conditions of employment are subject to UC policy.
Teaching positions are in Washington, DC at the Washington Center.
