  1. From the "Tools" menu of your browser, click on the "Internet Options" entry
  2. Click on the tab labeled "Connections"
  3. Click on the "LAN Settings" button
  4. Check the checkbox labeled "Use automatic configuration script"
  5. Enter http://proxy.lib.berkeley.edu/proxy.pac into the field labeled "Address"
  6. Remove checks from "Use a proxy server" and "Automatically detect settings" if present.
  7. The "Local Area Network (LAN) Settings" menu should look like the image below. Click OK.
  8. Click OK on the "Internet Options" menu.
  9. When you access a restricted online resource, you will be prompted for your user name and password.
    Students: Your username is your Student ID and your password is the last four digits of your Social Security Number.
    Faculty and Staff: Your username is your current Library Card ID, viz. your Berkeley Library card number. If you have a UCB-Stanford Research card, your username is the barcode number on the back. Your password is the last four digits of your Social Security Number.
