Residential Staff

Director and Associate Director of Student Services

The Director and Associate Director of Student Services are a full-time, live-in professional staff members with extensive experience working with students in residential settings. They are responsible for the coordination of the residential community as a unit and for ensuring adherence to the Residential Life Mission and Goals.

Josh Brimmeier, Director of Student Services

Joshua Brimmeier (he/him/his) - Joshua Brimmeier serves as the Director of Student Services at the University of California's Washington Center.  He has several years of experience working in Residential Life & Student Affairs having served as a Coordinator for Student Development at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo and most recently as an Assistant Resident Dean at University of California, San Diego.  Josh holds three degrees: An Associate's of Science in Business with an emphasis in Travel & Tourism from Central Pennsylvania College, a Bachelor's of Science in Psychology from Penn State, and a Master's of Education from Iowa State University. 

Josh grew up on the East Coast, originally from Lancaster, Pennsylvania.  Josh enjoys reading, running, traveling and going to the theatre.

Assistant Director of Student Services

Debbie Deas, Assistant Director of Student Services

Debbie Deas (she/her/hers) - Debbie is a southern native from the Palmetto State. She earned her BA in Government and Sociology from Wofford College in Spartanburg, SC before moving to Bloomington, IN to get her MS in Education at Indiana University. Debbie has worked in the UC system (UC Santa Barbara and UC San Diego) for almost nine years and had the privilege of participating in an unforgettable trip around the world with Semester at Sea.

Even though Howie – her 8-pound Chihuahua – is already giving her side-eye about winter, Debbie is excited to be back home on the east coast!

Coordinators of Student Development (CSD)

Coordinators are full-time, live-in professional staff members who serve as your primary point of contact for any issues or concerns that you may have while staying in the Center. One of their primary roles is to create and maintain a community which promotes academic, personal, and social growth.

Cassie Beaucherie, Coordinator of Student Development

Cassie Beucherie (she/her/hers) Cassie hails from the Pacific Northwest, born and raised in Washington state, and spent six years in Portland, Oregon. Cassie graduated from Lewis & Clark College with a B.A. in Music Performance and an M.A. in Student Affairs Administration. During her Master's program, Cassie spent a summer interning at UC Berkeley. She loves a good pickup game of basketball and open mic nights in the city!

Melissa Diaz, Coordinator of Student Development

Melissa Diaz (she/her/hers) - Melissa graduated from UC San Diego with a major in Sociology with an emphasis in Social Inequality. She has lived in San Diego her entire life and is keeping track of restaurants that have any hint of avocado on their menu. If you're ever in need of a buddy to explore museums or the many sights of DC feel free to reach out to Melissa, she'll come prepared with touristy books and "fun facts." On her free time Melissa can often be found walking about with her camera in one hand and cheese in the other.

Ruben Torres

Ruben Torres (he/him/his)Ruben graduated from UC San Diego with a degree in Biology and a minor in Psychology. He served as a resident advisor at Revelle College and most recently as an academic counselor at Warren College. As a San Diegan, Ruben likes hiking, running on the beach with his dog, and devouring burritos. Beyond the outdoors, Ruben enjoys video games and tech and wants to work in education technology in the future. You'll most likely find him walking along the mall getting his daily steps in.
