The Contest

Every week, you may submit a picture of your DC experience by emailing a full resolution image to ucwashcenter@gmail.com with the subject line, “Photo of The Week.”

Be sure to include:

  • Your full resolution photo
  • A caption for your photo
  • Your full name
  • Your home campus

Weekly winners will receive a $25 Amazon gift card. All submitted photos will be entered into the Photo of the Term Contest where the winner will receive a $100 Amazon gift card.

We are especially interested in photos that that shout: "UC'' and "DC.'' Have a UCLA sweatshirt? A Davis or Berkeley hat? A Santa Barbara, San Diego or Irvine Fleece? A coffee mug from Riverside, Merced or Santa Cruz? Show your UC colors or California roots in Washington.

A Pulitzer prize caliber picture of the Vietnam Memorial at dawn would be a strong candidate. The same picture with students wearing a UC sweatshirt would be even better. Winners are chosen based on photo content and quality. Check out the Photo of The Week gallery.

Photo deadline: Wednesdays at 11:59 PM. Any submissions after the deadline will be considered for the following week's contest.

Winners will be announced the following Friday on the front page of the UCDC website, on Facebook and Twitter, and in the weekly Reslife newsletter. If your photo is chosen, you will be notified via email to collect your prize of a $25 Amazon Gift Card.

The Goal

The goal is to create a space for students to share their best photos. We are also interested in stockpiling a gallery of images to use on the web page. Entries will be judged on originality, content and quality.  In order to build a gallery for the web page, we are particularly looking for photos that highlight UC in Washington.

The Fine Print

Photos submitted to the Photo of the Week Contest are the property of the University of California and may be used on the UCDC web page, social media channels, and in online and print materials. All UCDC students, alumni, and staff are eligible for prizes. Winners will be determined by the UCDC web committee.
