Introduction to conducting business in the international arena, the process of decision making in the organization, and the globalization of markets and production. Topics covered include basic economic concepts; accounting, tax and finance principles including measurement and profit recognition; business forms and structures; ethics in today’s environment; stock options for employees and recent backdating scandals; enterprise organizations and functions; principles of marketing; and the role of planning in a business enterprise. The current economic slowdown, aka the Great Recession, and the hoped for recovery will also form part of the course "infrastructure". Guest lecturers on tax, venture capital, and general business may also make presentations. |
